Another funky castle comes on to the Austin Real Estate Market

Another castle has come on the Austin real estate market. It was originally built by Charles Trois from the 1960's band Soul Survivors, and is still referred to as the Trois Estate. This one is a little different than the Pemberton castle that was for sale a few months ago. The Pemberton castle is located in an inner city neighborhood and is two stories. This castle is located in West Austin in an area where a lot of the houses are sitting on lots that are 2 or more acres. While the architecture lends the structure to being called a castle, it's different than a typical castle in that parts of the structure are one story.

While this castle is not that far from central Austin, the area is less incorporated and most of the houses in the area are on lots that are an acre or more. This castle is sitting on 6.11 acres. Because of size of the lot and the demand for central Austin real estate it's likely to eventually be demolished and turned into a small subdivision.

Personally, it seems pretty cool. If you are going to have a castle, it should be sitting on a decent lot. It has a long winding driveway leading up to it and a stream running through the lot. This castle is a little larger than the other two castles in Austin coming in at 6190 square feet. The issues with the castle are that it is currently being sold as a foreclosure property and has fallen into disrepair. Some of the features like the outdoor pavilion needs some structural support and the roof of the main structure leaks when it rains. But overall the property is pretty interesting.

I used to be in a band and we played a couple of weddings at the Trois Estate. It's beautiful! I wish we had the funds to buy it! Sorry to hear that it's in disrepair. I have very fond memories of our gigs there.

I have to tell you that the owners of the Trois basically skipped town and left everyone who was going to have a wedding there high and dry. They are unavailable and haven't returned any deposits over 5 months later. If there are not clouds on title now, there certainly will be soon. Their disregard for weddings that they booked will come back to haunt them financially. Stay away. I know several people who plan to sue and file liens. You heard it first here.

What's happening with the property - and the abandoned brides? I played for many weddings there but had some bad experiences with the owner in the past year...and experienced first-hand the disrepair when we were rained on INSIDE. It was used as the home of the adventurers in SpyKids 2 - too bad it's a shambles now. Wish I could afford it - I've always loved it!
