Where are the Subprime Mortgages
Here is a graphic of the amount of subprime mortgages broken down by county. You can mouse over the map to look at different areas. Unfortunately it doesn't work inside my blog software. But if you click on the map below a new page will come up with a working map.

Why is this interesting? Basically because banks have discovered that many of the subprime mortgages are ending up in a foreclosure. Seeing what counties had the most subprime mortgages would give a good view into where we are going to see more foreclosures. I was surprised by some of the rates. The California coast overall had lower rates than expected. Florida had pretty high rates. For instance Miami-Dade stood at 49%. Ouch. Wayne County where Detroit is stood at 49% as well. Chicago is in Cook County which came in at 37%.
So how about Texas? Harris County the county for Houston Texas was 39%. Dallas County is at 39%. Tarrant County the County for Fort Worth came in at 31%. If you look at the map you will notice that west Texas had pretty high numbers but no one lives there. So the map looks a little misleading because its 75% of the 4 people that live in the county.
The county for Austin Texas, Travis Country stood at 20% which compared to the rest of the country is pretty mild. To the north Williamson County where contains the city of Round Rock came in a little higher but not too much at 22%.
Anyway have fun. If you are interested in buying foreclosures we have some more information over here Austin Foreclosures.

20%? I thought it be more like 3% or 4% in Travis County. Maybe 20% in very bad areas.
I thought subprime were a small part of the mortgage market. This is surprising.
