Map of Subprime Real Estate Mortgages

Below is a map of US where the major population centers are color-coded based on the number of subprime real estate mortgages. I had another color-coded subprime mortgage map recently. The problem was that visually the map was skewed to rural areas that took up the most space on the map but where few people actually lived. So this map only shows metro population centers. Also if you mouse over, the percent of subprime mortgages for the entire state is shown. The other thing I like about this map is that it's based on the subprime mortgages given out in 2005. As we move into 2008, a lot of these mortgages that had 3 year arms are going to start readjusting. So this map gives a good idea of where we should start seeing a lot of foreclosures. Just glancing at the map, the 2 states that stand out the most are California and Florida. As we have talked about earlier on this blog, it looks like these states are going to see some rough times ahead.
