Austin Condos - Westgate

Westgate
1122 Colorado Street
$220,000 - $1,200,000

The Westgate building was built in 1965. Because it is not a new build, the quality varies from place to place. Some have been fixed up and some have not.

Since the Capital is basically at its doorstep, the building is known for housing representatives in the Texas government. A full view of the Capital is available for the units on the east and north side, and some of the units have spectacular wrap-around porches. The units on the other side have hill country views.

The amenities include 24-hour concierge and security, an exercise room, and a roof-top pool. The pool area is kinda neat with a brick wall missing every other brick so you can see peek out and see the views from west to east. The pool area is pretty swanky 60s, but I am not sure if it used as much anymore. The lobby downstairs looks like a legislature's office with big gold-rimmed mirrors, big furniture, and fake flower arrangements.
The units vary widely from small 400 square foot efficiencies to almost 4000 square feet 2-story, 3 bedroom homes. And prices range from $220,000 to $1.2 million, depending on size and also view.
